Breeders' Cup Limited Representatives
Breeders' Cup has expanded its nomination programs around the world with the International Stallion Nomination program.
All stallions standing outside North America now have the opportunity to
nominate directly to the Breeders’ Cup and receive automatic eligibility for all
their progeny to the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and the worldwide
Breeders’ Cup Challenge series.
This program requires that Northern Hemisphere stallions pay a nomination fee
equal to 50% of their published stud fee or a fee equal to 25% for Southern Hemisphere
stallions. In return for this nomination fee, Breeders’ Cup will grant full
Breeders’ Cup eligibility to the entire crop sired by those nominated stallions.
(There is a minimum stallion nomination fee of US$1,000.00). Stallions that stand
dual hemispheres will be required to pay the appropriate nomination fee for each
hemisphere. Stallions are nominated annually and the resulting foal crop will then
receive automatic eligibility status.
Stallions are now accepted from around
the world including Europe, Asia, Australia, South Africa, Central and South America
into the Breeders’ Cup program and can experience all the benefits of the
This global program will increase the number of international foals eligible to the
Breeders’ Cup from the current 1,200 nominated annually to over 20,000 each
These international Breeders’ Cup sired foals will experience all the benefits
of being nominated without having to pay a foal fee. They will receive full eligibility
to the newly redesigned Breeders’ Cup Challenge “Win and
You’re In” Series. In 2017, any horse that wins a Challenge races will
have its entry fees paid and will receive an automatic
starting berth when they run in the Breeders’ Cup World Championships which
offers $28 Million in purses and awards each year. That’s over $30 Million in Purses
and Awards available for Breeders’ Cup nominated horses each year.
